  1. Will my deposit accounts be insured by the federal government like they are at my current bank?
    1. Yes, all deposits at the credit union are insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, with deposits insured up to at least $250,000 per individual depositor.
  2. Is my personal information secure?
    1. Yes. The staff at Generations United Federal Credit Union considers protecting your personal information seriously. We offer Identity Theft Protection and Credit Monitoring free of charge via the Mobile Banking application (My Credit Manager link) if you open a checking or savings account.
  3. Will my accounts be safe from cyber criminals?
    1. Generations United Federal Credit will never send you an email or text message asking you to provide personal information or to click on a link. Please read the document “Security is Our Top Priority” for information to follow so that you can help us keep your data safe.
  4. How do I become a member?
    1. You can click the Join Now link on the website (https://gufcu.org) and following the prompts to become a member.
  5. Can I just pay my $5.00 membership fee and join without changing banks?
    1. Yes, you can, but we encourage you to open a checking account, or savings account, or apply for a credit card to take advantage of the benefits they provide. If you click on the Learn More link for these products you can see the product offerings and determine for yourself if they provide a better benefit than your current bank.
  6. Why do I need to scan my drivers license during the enrollment process?
    1. This is needed to comply with the USA Patriot Act which aids the Federal Government in fighting terrorism and prevents money laundering activity by checking your drivers license against a national database.
  7. Without a branch, how do I do my banking?
    There are several ways you can bank with GUFCU:
    1. You can access the icon on the website (https://gufcu.org) for Mobile Banking.You can bank at any of the 30,000 ATMs in our CoOp ATM network (select the ATM locator icon for the ATM nearest you).You can bank at any of the Shared Branch locations (select the Shared Branch locator icon for the branch nearest you).
  8. How can I receive help in using the mobile application?
    1. You can click on the video that provides an overview of the mobile application or you can contact us at 646 422-7275.
  9. What if I need or want to use the services of a branch?
    1. On the website or on the mobile app, click on the link marked Shared Branch Locator. You will be directed to a site where you can Find a Branch. You can search by zip code or the combination of address, city, and state, then select Search and you will see a list of shared branches. The branches will sort by distance and provide the location and hours of operation.
  10. How do I find an ATM?
    1. On website or on the mobile app, click on the link marked ATM Locator. You will be redirected to a site where you can enter your zip code or address, city, and select a state, then selecting Search and you will see a list of ATMs. The ATMs will sort by distance and provide details about the ATM
  11. Are transactions through an ATM free of fees?
    1. Generations United FCU does not charge an ATM fee at any ATM machine in our network. Please use an ATM in our network by selecting the ATM locator icon on our website or mobile device.
  12. If I need to get in contact with someone at the Credit Union, how do I contact them?
    1. You can click on the Contact Us link on the homepage of the website where our office number is provided, or you can email your question to us through the same link, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
